Dev Log 0.3 - #13


Hey friends!

The last development log of 2024 is here! I’ve managed to get a first alpha build out, so testing and proofreading can already begin while I work on the remaining two scenes!

I’ve already fixed a lot of things, and here’s a fun fact for those of you who are tech-savvy: Ren’Py can’t work with image filenames written in camel case (e.g., anyaBleh.png where the first letter is lowercase, and subsequent words are joined with an uppercase letter). A tester solved this issue, and thankfully, it was fairly easy to fix afterward. You really can’t make this stuff up, something as simple as an image name was preventing Ren’Py from finding it in the folder structure. I’ve never encountered anything like that before!

Anyway, I still have a good chunk of animations to create, but since testing and rendering are now happening in parallel, the process should speed up in the long run. Initially, I planned for this update to include one h-scene because my original intention was to split the update into two parts, so one scene each. However, I realized this might be the content most people are looking forward to, so I’ll add another smaller h-scene that fits the respective character and helps bring two branches closer together.

Moving forward, like I mentioned in the previous dev log, I’ll also aim to reduce the amount of content per update and I try to get enough content to justify on one h-scene per release. This way, I can get updates out faster, still less content per update, but more frequent releases. I hope this will be okay for everyone!

Speaking of the previous dev log. “That’s everything for development logs this year, the next one will be in 2025!” Well, now it’s for real! 😄
