It's strange but I actually face a problem that, though I could download the game file, I just got a "403 forbidden" when I was trying downloading the "CHINESE translation" and the "Walkthrough-Mod". So I wander if there was any other external channel to reach those two files?
I'm pretty conflicted about this game to be honest. The characters are likeable and there seems to be a pretty well-thought-out and cohesive storyline here, but I really can't get over the amount of AI art sprinkled throughout the game. I get that a dislike of AI is a more personal gripe, but seeing it in the phone backgrounds, the news broadcasts, and all the images on the TV is just super distracting. My hope is that it's all placeholder assets that'll get replaced someday but it's hard for me to enjoy the game with unsettling AI slop being so ingrained as a part of it.
Hey, thank you! I already removed the phone background image. I might have to take some bucks and have all images make by professionals, but that's something that's on my to-do list for later. This is the cheapest option I had, especially for the 0.1 version of the game!
Unsure how I'd get good looking Pandalorian images though, definitely would cost me too much for the current budget. But I'll keep it in mind!

Omfg that was SO GOOD! This might be the best +18 game I've ever played, being able to change the text size, the cutscenes, the charismatic characters, the decisions, even the animations, background details and secrets are SO GOOD. I loved it and I'm looking forward to the game's updates! The story also seems pretty interesting. I seriously love the details, like the date, characters' reaction to choices, wallpapers, stats at the end of the chapter, it's a GREAT GAME.

I just implement what I personally did enjoy the most in other games, like living backgrounds and small movements while you talk to characters, makes everything feel more alive and natural. This is fantastic work so far. Especially the models and sex scenes... Legitimately great work. First time I've been extremely looking forward to more from this style of game, I can't wait. That cliff hanger caught me off guard super good!
Note: This is just my perspective, take it with whatever grains of salt you prefer.
So far, BH is fairly linear (something I hope changes in future builds). That said, it is not what I consider "standard fair". The implied story playing out in the background events seems consistent with the MC's "mystery" events. Keeping eyes on the background helped keep me invested in what I originally assumed was a benign story. As the story progressed, the two intermingled.
A few "cons" of note (at least from my view, your mileage may vary). "SPOILERS" (Um yeah, I don't actually care but hey, no reason to ruin it for others I guess)
1) Lucy and the cab driver comes off a bit "NTR"- The behavior and rather vague dialog interaction feels like Lucy's paying the cabbie. Add the "bug?" that Lucy gets in the cab with "leggings" and leaves with no leggings....
2) The "hidden" clickables are nice but as the intro states, it's a pain to click literally every pixel just to get the hiddens.
3) There are plenty of points where I absolutely wanted to break out of the storyline to check a background event or talk to a character. Of the few constant frustrations (mild but there) was seeing something happening and not being able to interact or see a character who may have information that would clarify an event and not being able to talk. This is especially true of the "phone". I am hoping in future updates either the linear story will incorporate the logical/practical inclusion of events and characters in "real-time" or allow the MC to interact through multiple choices to background events or characters.
The "pro" (again, "Spoilers" because some people need everything spelled out {"Well preacher, anyone ever tell you there are TWO KNOBS on the radio?!!" - George Carlin})
Solid mystery game. I see a lot of potential that may or may not prove to be a great end-game story. Looking forward to Chapt 3 to see if a few things I have theories about come close (and how wrong I was!)
Dev's sense of both style and substance seems pretty on point, throw in the humour and you've got me sold. Dystopian settings with a sense of humour are so hard to find so I'll hang on to this one as long I get a chuckle.

It's just not possible for me.
1) You really had me checking the leggings... but as far as I can tell, she is definitely wearing them. You look at her legs and they're quite bright, due to the sun shining on them, but they're there. Also Lucy and NTR?! Holy moly, that's the last I would think of, when thinking about Lucy. :D
2) Yes, the hidden clickables are kind of difficult, I agree, but they're not at random pixels, they have their points, if you manage to see something.
3) I totally feel it, would love to make it a 3d game, lol. But I have to make sacrifices, I could fill the game with lots and lots of minor details, but then people would even be less engaged since it's under the premise of an adult visual novel, so most people expect h-scenes and not random background events, unfortunately. Since those background events take time, it would take too long to build them beside the normal story. I agree on the phone, I should make more use of it, I don't play to introduce a sandbox mode currently though.
For the pros, thanks! :D I try to get some chuckles out of the player while still maintaining a serious storyline.

Sort of like the alley scene *cough: spoilers* where clearly there were some things that were going on but.....

I didn't know Cosy's game when I started making my own and haven't played it yet, apparently both Lucy's are on the shy side, so that would match too? Does his MC look good? Also, fun fact, Simon looks almost exactly like the MC from Companion of Darkness...

Currently all characters with h or cute scenes / images will be displayed in the gallery. So in the later stages, probably everyone will be in the gallery, both main and side girls. Whereas I don't have a specific list on who's main and who's not at the moment. Lucy, Anya and Jane are definitely 'main' though. Hope that could answer you question!
Hey! You probably choose the wrong choices (which is only one in this case, you chose that she looked ugly). In 0.3, it'll be easier to see why certain choices aren't available when you hover over them.

I have a quick question about the walkthrough (no real spoilers). You say the below three dialogue choices come in order, but I've never gotten the second choice.
• “I shouldn’t over do it…” OR “Amazing!”
• “Yes!” OR “No”.
• “Hug her” OR “Wave back”.
After I pick “Amazing!”, the very next choice is whether to “Hug her” OR “Wave back”. Did I miss something? Thanks, Pan!
During the scene with Amber I think there's supposed to be a choice to be rough with her or not.
For some reason you're automatically rough with her unless you select "I shouldn't overdo it" and then "Actually, no" THEN you get the choice to be rough or not.

TheGeeb81 is correct, you're automatically being rough with Amber if certain criteria are met. Either you have taken enough lustful choices up to that point or you've taken the dominant choices with two other girls previously. :)

Ok, first of all, wow. I wasn't really expecting much, but my goodness how amazing it has been so far. The story has really swept me away and I can hardly wait for it to continue. It's not just the story that has me hooked, the characters are also varied and interesting. But especially the little things, like the fact that the selected mobile phone wallpaper is displayed on the small icon. You can see that a lot of heart and soul has gone into it. The animations are also very well done. Only once did a background fail to load and I saw an error message from RenPy. If you like Ripples and Eternum, you can't go wrong with this AVN. I really hope that it continues soon.

Of course. It's after dinner (which Jane has cooked) when you're lying on your bed thinking. First you see the skylight as normal, then the error appears for two or three text boxes, and then it appears again before you fall asleep. Is the description that good?
Yes, pretty good, thank you! When the errors appear for two or three textboxes, then it could be my easter egg error, a normal error would make the game crash, or did you press ignore to make the game progress? It's right when MC starts talking about his knowledge about programming.

When you update the games version, your save files should be still available. If you're changing your phone, you need to transfer the files from "android/data/com.dbpanda.betweenhumanity/files/saves" to your new device :)
This is just about as high quality a NSFW game that I've seen. Beautiful girls, genuinely engaging story and you can see the love and care that has gone into creating it. Really looking forward to the next chapter.
I wanted to try this since everyone compares it to the big games I love, easy to say I loved it, the story is captivating and from the moment you turn into the game you can tell it is one of thoose ones, can't wait to see where the story goes
I will admit, initially I didn't expect much out of it as it seemed like a standard "MC was in an accident and has to rediscover his life" scenario that we've seen many times before. So I was happy when it became clear that it was not, and the story really picked up once it gets to the first school day. I'm now quite intrigued by the story - complete with personal theories and predictions - and the characters, and it seems like it's only going to keep getting better.

3 out of 5 is still what I consider a good game. It's mainly a slow beginning that brings it down tbh, but it's far from the only AVN to suffer from that, and the fact that it's only v0.2 naturally means that many characters and storylines haven't gotten enough focus yet to bring the score up.
Most AVNs wouldn't have gotten higher than 3/5 until v0.4 or v0.5.
Fair point! When I compare that with my own crunchyroll rating preferences... I usually don't watch anything below 4.2/5 stars xD. Also, if all new games get at most 3/5 I think a lot of newer devs might loose motivation to continue developing. So I might have to make smaller updates to pump my version number up, heh. Anyway, just my two cents, thanks for clarifying, though!
That's true. For my personal rule of thumb, everything above a 5/10 rating on imdb is usually something considerable to watch (Exceptions prove the rule) :D
Just started playing this game and I love the fact that Amber from The Headmaster is in this game. (I know these type of games share the same character models but it was still a cool easter egg nonetheless)
Not gonna lie I downloaded it for a quick nut but this game went up to my favorites along with Eternum, Once in a lifetime and a bit of Ripples. THE QUALITY IS ABSOLUTELY INSANE. Holy hell I stayed up until 6 in the Morning cause I got invested in the story. It ended and I felt sad I need more. Daaaamn this is a good game. As of chapter 1+2 I give it a solid Must play / 10. Take your sweet time with the game because that quality is worth the wait. The only minor thing I found is that when the game starts it mentions "persons" instead of people. Everything else was perfect
Persons as in multiple amount of humans doesn't exist in the English dictionary. Plural for person is people and the only other way person can be used is when talking about an item someone has on them / on their person. I'm not a native speaker either so I could be wrong about some things as well. Thank you for the great game, your time to check and reply every comment and your hard work °^°

Just finished (chapter 2) and i was hoping for more right away, this reminds me so much of Once And A Lifetime and Eternum it will take a long time to finish the whole story but please take all the time in the world because i believe it will be worth it (like Mia said) honestly a 11/10 keep up the wonderful work:)

I only took a quick look today and I saw a bunch of stuff I liked about other games, from what I saw the art, animation and world are good and probably interessting.
Normally I take my time but often these games with even 0.1 have barely anything and I was quite stressed today for some reason so I only had a quick look.
I don't even know what to say in this review, the game was perfect. I absolutely love it and have nothing to complain about. At first, I didn't like the MC looks but his sharp facial structure quickly grew up on me to be honest, everyone looks amazing, and I just want Chapter 3 ASAP.
Oh sorry i meant keep the game from crashing it wasnt unplayable but a little annoying and probably my phones fault i just finished chapter two it was really good

as a fellow game dev I would highly suggest adding a lot of that sort of stuff so you know what players are more drawn to and will want to see more of. even if the player cant see what your tracking its great to be able to do so as a dev
That's true but I won't start tracking which choices the players choose. That might be too much. The playtime on the other hand though, that's quite useful. I can do polls and ask for the popularity of girls or which important decisions was taken at point x if necessary. How would you do it on the other hand? :)
If you don't want to track player choices that is totally fine. For my game projects I like to track the most important values rather than every little detail. Examples would be playtime, play-throughs, and any major story or gameplay decisions (eg. if its an MMO how many players took the Healer class compared to the DPS class or the Tank class). Polling is a great alternative since people participating will likely be more invested and care more about the future of the game. Another alternative is to allow players to opt in or out of in-game tracking (something I like to do a lot). I do apologize for taking so long to respond to this I completely forgot to check my Itch notifications.
Also for a response to your recent dev diary, I much prefer that you push back a release instead of rushing it if its not done. So tired of devs these day rushing releases way to early and end up ruining any momentum that the project had. Alway lay a groundwork of releasing good content instead of rushed content. This also helps improve technical debt to make future additions easier. Never be afraid to replace a normal content release with a Project Health release to fix bugs, improve gameplay/ui/animations/general features. Thats what I personally believe but if you want to take a different path that is fine by me.
Yes, for an MMO and with classes, it's definitely useful too check for balancing and also tracking skills is useful. For an avn it's not necessary imo. I don't have many story related choices yet, since I'm still in the early stages. Most choices are to see which girls the player like and make their game flow smoothly without including the ones they don't like. For actual story related choices, it might be useful later, but I'd have to buy a server to receive the results and I'm not sure if I want to do that. Using polls is indeed something I intend to do more in the future, but for now, I'm focused on so many other things beside the game, hard to keep track of everything. Don't worry about the responds time :D
This game was so good, i went through it twice and did it one playthrough because of how well the animations were and models. I really enjoyed it and I cant wait to see what comes of it in the future. I usually wait a little longer in development life because of how long quality games take to render and animate and even make a good story. Anyways like I said I cant wait for more and really like the 2 chapters I got. I wish there was more, but i completely understand why there isnt. Its just me being selfish.... good luck with everything and ill definitely come back for more!!!

Nice i loved it. The animations are really nice, so are the models. The story is a bit basic at the surface but still enoyable. I will let the story unfold overtime before making to much judgement about it.
Oh and about the "good parts" of the game. You are definitely a man of culture (dunno if you are trully a man or not but you still are a man of culture)

Also, fun fact, Simon looks almost exactly like the MC from Companion of Darkness...

Currently all characters with h or cute scenes / images will be displayed in the gallery. So in the later stages, probably everyone will be in the gallery, both main and side girls. Whereas I don't have a specific list on who's main and who's not at the moment. Lucy, Anya and Jane are definitely 'main' though. Hope that could answer you question!

Hey! You probably choose the wrong choices (which is only one in this case, you chose that she looked ugly). In 0.3, it'll be easier to see why certain choices aren't available when you hover over them.

I have a quick question about the walkthrough (no real spoilers). You say the below three dialogue choices come in order, but I've never gotten the second choice.
• “I shouldn’t over do it…” OR “Amazing!”
• “Yes!” OR “No”.
• “Hug her” OR “Wave back”.
After I pick “Amazing!”, the very next choice is whether to “Hug her” OR “Wave back”. Did I miss something? Thanks, Pan!
During the scene with Amber I think there's supposed to be a choice to be rough with her or not.
For some reason you're automatically rough with her unless you select "I shouldn't overdo it" and then "Actually, no" THEN you get the choice to be rough or not.

TheGeeb81 is correct, you're automatically being rough with Amber if certain criteria are met. Either you have taken enough lustful choices up to that point or you've taken the dominant choices with two other girls previously. :)

Ok, first of all, wow. I wasn't really expecting much, but my goodness how amazing it has been so far. The story has really swept me away and I can hardly wait for it to continue.
It's not just the story that has me hooked, the characters are also varied and interesting. But especially the little things, like the fact that the selected mobile phone wallpaper is displayed on the small icon.
You can see that a lot of heart and soul has gone into it. The animations are also very well done.
Only once did a background fail to load and I saw an error message from RenPy.
If you like Ripples and Eternum, you can't go wrong with this AVN. I really hope that it continues soon.

Of course. It's after dinner (which Jane has cooked) when you're lying on your bed thinking. First you see the skylight as normal, then the error appears for two or three text boxes, and then it appears again before you fall asleep.

Yes, pretty good, thank you! When the errors appear for two or three textboxes, then it could be my easter egg error, a normal error would make the game crash, or did you press ignore to make the game progress? It's right when MC starts talking about his knowledge about programming.

When you update the games version, your save files should be still available. If you're changing your phone, you need to transfer the files from "android/data/com.dbpanda.betweenhumanity/files/saves" to your new device :)

I will admit, initially I didn't expect much out of it as it seemed like a standard "MC was in an accident and has to rediscover his life" scenario that we've seen many times before. So I was happy when it became clear that it was not, and the story really picked up once it gets to the first school day. I'm now quite intrigued by the story - complete with personal theories and predictions - and the characters, and it seems like it's only going to keep getting better.

3 out of 5 is still what I consider a good game. It's mainly a slow beginning that brings it down tbh, but it's far from the only AVN to suffer from that, and the fact that it's only v0.2 naturally means that many characters and storylines haven't gotten enough focus yet to bring the score up.
Most AVNs wouldn't have gotten higher than 3/5 until v0.4 or v0.5.
Fair point! When I compare that with my own crunchyroll rating preferences... I usually don't watch anything below 4.2/5 stars xD. Also, if all new games get at most 3/5 I think a lot of newer devs might loose motivation to continue developing. So I might have to make smaller updates to pump my version number up, heh. Anyway, just my two cents, thanks for clarifying, though!
Ah, I get that. It's kinda why I prefer rating things out ot 10 rather than 5. A 7/10 sounds better than a 3/5.
That's true. For my personal rule of thumb, everything above a 5/10 rating on imdb is usually something considerable to watch (Exceptions prove the rule) :D
Just started playing this game and I love the fact that Amber from The Headmaster is in this game. (I know these type of games share the same character models but it was still a cool easter egg nonetheless)

Not gonna lie I downloaded it for a quick nut but this game went up to my favorites along with Eternum, Once in a lifetime and a bit of Ripples. THE QUALITY IS ABSOLUTELY INSANE. Holy hell I stayed up until 6 in the Morning cause I got invested in the story. It ended and I felt sad I need more. Daaaamn this is a good game. As of chapter 1+2 I give it a solid Must play / 10. Take your sweet time with the game because that quality is worth the wait. The only minor thing I found is that when the game starts it mentions "persons" instead of people. Everything else was perfect

Persons as in multiple amount of humans doesn't exist in the English dictionary. Plural for person is people and the only other way person can be used is when talking about an item someone has on them / on their person. I'm not a native speaker either so I could be wrong about some things as well. Thank you for the great game, your time to check and reply every comment and your hard work °^°

I only took a quick look today and I saw a bunch of stuff I liked about other games, from what I saw the art, animation and world are good and probably interessting.
Normally I take my time but often these games with even 0.1 have barely anything and I was quite stressed today for some reason so I only had a quick look.

I don't even know what to say in this review, the game was perfect. I absolutely love it and have nothing to complain about. At first, I didn't like the MC looks but his sharp facial structure quickly grew up on me to be honest, everyone looks amazing, and I just want Chapter 3 ASAP.

as a fellow game dev I would highly suggest adding a lot of that sort of stuff so you know what players are more drawn to and will want to see more of. even if the player cant see what your tracking its great to be able to do so as a dev
That's true but I won't start tracking which choices the players choose. That might be too much. The playtime on the other hand though, that's quite useful. I can do polls and ask for the popularity of girls or which important decisions was taken at point x if necessary. How would you do it on the other hand? :)
If you don't want to track player choices that is totally fine. For my game projects I like to track the most important values rather than every little detail. Examples would be playtime, play-throughs, and any major story or gameplay decisions (eg. if its an MMO how many players took the Healer class compared to the DPS class or the Tank class). Polling is a great alternative since people participating will likely be more invested and care more about the future of the game. Another alternative is to allow players to opt in or out of in-game tracking (something I like to do a lot). I do apologize for taking so long to respond to this I completely forgot to check my Itch notifications.
Also for a response to your recent dev diary, I much prefer that you push back a release instead of rushing it if its not done. So tired of devs these day rushing releases way to early and end up ruining any momentum that the project had. Alway lay a groundwork of releasing good content instead of rushed content. This also helps improve technical debt to make future additions easier. Never be afraid to replace a normal content release with a Project Health release to fix bugs, improve gameplay/ui/animations/general features. Thats what I personally believe but if you want to take a different path that is fine by me.
Yes, for an MMO and with classes, it's definitely useful too check for balancing and also tracking skills is useful. For an avn it's not necessary imo. I don't have many story related choices yet, since I'm still in the early stages. Most choices are to see which girls the player like and make their game flow smoothly without including the ones they don't like. For actual story related choices, it might be useful later, but I'd have to buy a server to receive the results and I'm not sure if I want to do that. Using polls is indeed something I intend to do more in the future, but for now, I'm focused on so many other things beside the game, hard to keep track of everything. Don't worry about the responds time :D
This game was so good, i went through it twice and did it one playthrough because of how well the animations were and models. I really enjoyed it and I cant wait to see what comes of it in the future. I usually wait a little longer in development life because of how long quality games take to render and animate and even make a good story. Anyways like I said I cant wait for more and really like the 2 chapters I got. I wish there was more, but i completely understand why there isnt. Its just me being selfish.... good luck with everything and ill definitely come back for more!!!

Nice i loved it. The animations are really nice, so are the models. The story is a bit basic at the surface but still enoyable. I will let the story unfold overtime before making to much judgement about it.
Oh and about the "good parts" of the game. You are definitely a man of culture (dunno if you are trully a man or not but you still are a man of culture)
